How Is Decor with Cement Coating Manufactured?

In most cases, the simplest cement adhesive is used (preferably facade-grade), diluted with acrylic primer. To make it sound more professional, it is often referred to as a plasticizer. Therefore, if you see a gray-colored decorative element and are told that it has an acrylic coating — to put it mildly, this is not entirely true.

The service life of polystyrene decor with a standard cement coating is significantly shorter than that of decor with a polymer (acrylic) coating.

Unfortunately, today the market is full of small-scale manufacturers producing reinforcing compounds for decorative elements literally “in garages” or makeshift workshops. Some of them even claim that their materials are of premium quality and no worse than products from companies such as Merolith.
